I’ve spent the afternoon going over some of the tutorials in the iPhone SDK Development beta-book. So far, so good. I can now see what all the fuss is about – compared to Win32, Cocoa is way richer and way nicer to develop in. Compared to the .NET framework, it’s a close run thing, tho I think the overall design of Cocoa is better and more consistent. But thats only on the surface.
Best thing for me is, if I can’t be bothered with the iPhone, the skills are mostly transferable to the Mac – and I have a copy of Cocoa Programming – a quick start for developers to get up to speed.
XCode isn’t Visual Studio, but nothing is – I’ve had 5 years to get used to it, and I recall it was painful going from Delphi to VS.NET in the first place, just as it was going from Delphi to JBuilder, and Turbo Pascal to Delphi….. Changing IDE’s is never fun. Props to Apple for giving the IDE away.
Now, where is that good great idea I had stashed away…..
Now I feel bad for taking your Cocao book. Are you learning this for work or for fun?
